Calvert Canines offers behaviour guidance and training support for you and your dog; prioritising relationship and welfare
Based near Buckingham, North Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire border
As well as a focus on relationship, Calvert Canines focuses on your dogs' autonomy and self-regulation. We don't want to aim for "obedient robots" as that disempowers the dog, negatively affecting their welfare. Behaviours that a dog chooses to adopt because they want to (whether that be walking next to you on lead or disengaging from other dogs instead of reacting) are much longer lasting and stronger than a focus on "commands". As a qualified behaviour specialist I am also able to look underneath your dogs' behaviours to ascertain the emotional and cognitive drive behind them. Only in assessing what emotion drives a behaviour, and how cognition drives it all, can we create life-long change for the dog and yourselves as a family unit, regardless of the difficulty presented.
We offer basic training for dogs of all ages such as loose lead walking and recall. We also hold puppy socialisation walks with true socialisation at heart. Behaviour Consultations concerning anxieties and aggressive demonstrations are also available.
We specialise in reactive dogs - or more to the point seemingly "over-reactive" dogs - those who bark/lunge or otherwise present aggressive behaviour presentations at the sight of other dogs, people or other triggers. Reactivity may be due to fear or other emotions.
We offer a professional, reliable and trustworthy dog walking service for all social dogs, as well as those dogs who need a bit more management and care as a result of ongoing anxieties or fears. We can help your dog make friends in a safe controlled way.

Our Webinars are jam packed with information that will help you gain up-to-date knowledge on dog behaviour and training that you can apply to your own dogs at home or if you work professionally with dogs. Click on the link to sign up.

"Jen has been wonderful in helping both me and Winston with anxiety around other dogs. She has carefully guided us through a number of introductions with her buddy dogs (who are equally as wonderful!). She is calm and professional, moving at your dogs pace. Her approach is all about positive reinforcement and she has such an ability to read dogs. Winston is so happy we found you!"
